The Austrian-sourced go-kart for the road has added another model to its local range, the X-Bow GT, which effectively is an X-Bow R with a windshield.
As windshields go its fairly costly one with the GT variant priced from $189,990 before on-road costs, a jump of $20,000 over the X-Bow R.
The hipster-style frameless windscreen adds some much needed practicality to the X-Bow's road use as it replaces the need for a helmet and visor, but it is designed so that it doesn't detract from the open-top rawness provided by the X-Bow.
KTM – usually known for its motorcycles – has had to rework the switch arrangement to accommodate the windscreen wiper controls and washer functions, along with the addition of a windscreen heater to allow for optimal vision in all conditions.
Power for the sub-850kg X-Bow comes from an Audi-sourced 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 220kW and 420Nm and is matched to a six-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels.
The X-Bow GT is capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 231km/h.
